In Tribute to Walter Robinson
Each year as we receive word of one of our members departing this life and we are
      saddened.
Then there are those times the loss of a member is so deeply felt.
This was so when we received word that  Walter Robinson had departed this life
on Thuresday March, 10  2005 he was just 77 years old.
We do not know when Walt joined the Navy, but we do know he reported aboard the
USS Leyte, (CV-32) in August of 1945 as a member of the precommissioning crew in
      E Division.
Walt left the ship in January of 1946.
Walter, with Doris, was with us for our first reunion in Hampton Va.
We were looking for a Chaplain for our first meeting and Walt volunteered for the
position, from that day forward Walt served with honor and distination as the
USS Leyte Chaplain for the next ten years, doing an out-standing job of leading us in
our meetings in the invocation and benidition as well as preparing and conducting
      our memorial Services.
Over the past 18 years Walt & Doris have missed only one reunion.
Walt will always be remembered for his kind words, pleasent smile, hardy hand shake
and his wonderful personallty, he will be missed.
May he rest in eternal peace.
